According to a recent article in the New York Times, between 80 and 92 percent of all cases settle. At our office, that statistic certainly holds true, but why do they always wait until the very morning of trial to roll over and die??? Don't they know they're killing my opportunities to be a lawyer?? My annoyance knows no bounds.

You've been watching too much Law & Order, where every case is a minority serial rapist murderer at large, and the media loves him and claims it wasn't his fault, and there are a million political overtones to the case, and despite the post-episode disclaimer that it was all fictional and not based on anything real you SWEAR you read that same case in the newspaper last month, and every case goes to trial.
